Travel Tips for Kolkata Travellers

  • Weather: Varanasi and Ayodhya are colder than Kolkata in December and January. Carry warm clothes for early darshan and the boat ride.
  • Ram Mandir rules: Phones, bags and leather items are not allowed inside. Free lockers are available near the entry.
  • Best time: October to March, especially after Durga Puja and around Deepotsav and Dev Deepawali.

Arrive in Varanasi by an overnight train from Howrah or Sealdah, or by a direct flight from Kolkata. Our driver picks you up from Varanasi Junction, DDU Junction or the airport and takes you to your hotel.

In the afternoon, visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Annapurna Devi Temple. In the evening, watch the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat. Overnight in Varanasi.

Start with a sunrise boat ride along the ghats. After breakfast, walk through Bengali Tola, the old Bengali quarter of Kashi, and visit Kedar Ghat.

In the afternoon, drive to Sarnath to see Dhamek Stupa and the museum. On the way back, visit Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple and Durga Kund, built by Rani Bhabani of Bengal. Overnight in Varanasi.

After an early breakfast, drive to Ayodhya (about 200 km, 4 to 5 hours) by private car. After check-in, go for Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir darshan and visit Hanuman Garhi.

In the evening, attend the Saryu Aarti at Ram ki Paidi / Naya Ghat. Overnight in Ayodhya.

In the morning, visit Kanak Bhawan, Dashrath Mahal and Sita ki Rasoi, or take a second Ram Mandir darshan.
