How to Reach Varanasi from Bangalore

Mode Travel time Best for
Direct flight (Bengaluru to Varanasi airport) About 2.5 hours Short trips, families and senior travellers
One-stop flight (via Delhi, Hyderabad or Kolkata) About 4 to 7 hours When direct flights are full or costly
Long-distance train About 36 to 42 hours Not practical for a 3 day trip

For a 2N 3D trip, a direct flight is the best choice. Book a morning flight on Day 1 and an evening flight on Day 3 so you get full time in Kashi.

Travel Tips for Bangalore Travellers

  • Weather: Varanasi is much colder than Bengaluru from December to February (night temperatures can drop to 5 to 8°C). Carry a proper jacket, cap and socks for the early boat ride.
  • Summer: April to June is very hot (40°C and above). Plan sightseeing in the morning and evening.
  • Food: South Indian food is easy to find near Kedar Ghat and Hanuman Ghat, so senior family members can eat what they are used to.
  • Best time: October to March, and especially around Dev Deepawali (November).

In the afternoon, visit Banaras Hindu University and the New Vishwanath Temple on campus, followed by Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple. Evening free for Assi Ghat or the Subah-e-Banaras programme next morning. Overnight in Varanasi.

After breakfast, visit Kedar Ghat and Kedareshwar Temple. This part of Varanasi has long been home to the South Indian community, with mathas, Tamil and Telugu signboards and small hotels serving idli, dosa and South Indian thalis.
